Book covers used to be awfully subtle

Dance Hall Girl

  1. Buzz Says:

In that awful musical Sweet Charity starring Shirley MacLaine, “dance hall hostess” seemed to be little more than a euphemism for “prostitute.”

Of course, I would hardly refer to a student at a dance school as a “dance hall girl,” but who knows what the cover has to do with the actual pulp romance inside.
